1 Who we are

ExpiryDate ("we", "us", "our") is a food expiry tracking service available at expirydate.app, operated by Plexo Logic Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16940619), with its registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Plexo Logic Ltd is the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR. We are committed to protecting your personal data and complying with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2 What data we collect

• Account information: email address, name, and profile picture when you sign in with Google or Apple, or register with email and password.
• Phone number: optionally collected at registration for account security.
• Receipt images: photos you take are sent to Google Cloud Vision API for text extraction and are not stored by us after processing.
• Pantry data: the food items you save, including product names, prices and expiry dates.
• User contributions: if you add or correct a product, that data may be used to improve our shared product database for all users.
• Usage data: basic analytics such as which features you use, stored anonymously.

3 How we use your data

• To provide and operate the ExpiryDate service.
• To send you expiry date notifications you have opted into.
• To improve our food product database and shelf life data.
• To respond to support requests.

4 Legal basis (UK GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of contract (to deliver the service you signed up for) and legitimate interests (improving the service). Notification processing is based on your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.

5 Third-party services

• Google Cloud Vision API — processes receipt images for text extraction. Images are transmitted securely and not retained. See Google Cloud Privacy Notice.
• Google / Apple OAuth — used for sign-in. We only receive the data you authorise.
• Database hosting — our self-hosted database and authentication provider. Data is stored on servers in the EU.

6 Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page. Receipt images are not stored after processing.

7 Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data, correct inaccurate data, delete your data, restrict or object to processing, and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@expirydate.app.

8 Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

9 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email.
