1 Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using ExpiryDate ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Plexo Logic Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16940619), with its registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our"). References to "ExpiryDate" in these Terms refer to Plexo Logic Ltd.

2 The Service

ExpiryDate is a food expiry tracking application that scans supermarket receipts, tracks expiry dates and sends reminders to help reduce household food waste. The Service is provided free of charge.

3 Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using ExpiryDate you confirm that you meet this requirement.

4 Your account

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must provide accurate information when registering.
• You may not share your account or use another person's account.
• You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page.

5 Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape or extract data from the Service.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Upload content that is offensive, fraudulent or infringes third-party rights.

6 Product data & shelf life information

Our product database is compiled from three sources: manually curated data maintained by the ExpiryDate team, user contributions submitted through the app, and data from Open Food Facts (an open-source food products database licensed under the Open Database Licence).

Expiry dates and shelf life estimates provided by ExpiryDate are for guidance only, based on typical product data. They do not replace the "use by" or "best before" dates printed on your food packaging. Always check the label. ExpiryDate accepts no liability for illness or loss arising from reliance on our estimates.

7 Experience Points (XP) & weekly limits

You earn Experience Points (XP) by using the app — scanning receipts, using items before they expire, cooking recipes and more. To ensure fair play and system stability, the maximum XP you can earn per week is capped at 5,000 XP. This weekly cap resets every Monday at midnight (UTC).

XP may be redeemed for bonus AI recipe generations at a rate of 500 XP per generation. We reserve the right to adjust XP earning rates, caps and redemption costs at any time.

8 Intellectual property

The ExpiryDate name, logo and application are owned by us. You retain ownership of any data you input. By using the Service you grant us a licence to process your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

9 Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify, suspend or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.

10 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ExpiryDate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which for free users is £0).

11 Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12 Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
